GANDHI CORNER

The Gandhi Corner is largely an extension of the values that La Martiniere Girls’ College tries to inculcate in the girls.
Their work with the less fortunate makes the girls realize that the world of today stands overridden by materialism and selfishness. It is a world where sacrifice for others is often considered foolishness, patience as inertness, humility as cowardice, obedience as slavery, honesty as lack of foresight, and respect for law as humility.

MEENA BAZAAR (18th November, 2017):

Almost 20 years ago, our beloved Principal, Late Mrs. F. Abraham inspired the Gandhi Corner to work towards promoting Indian Art & Culture. Putting our heads together, the members came up with a new concept of  "Meena Bazaar", an ethnic, theme based fete ONLY FOR GIRLS & LADIES of all ages where everyone would feel free to enjoy a day that creates a charged atmosphere. Meena Bazaar has come a long way and this year the Gandhi Corner members dedicated their efforts to the loving memory of dear Mrs. F. Abraham, who had always been the heart and soul of every moment of the Meena Bazaar. A tribute to our mentor who still lives in us today.

Meena bazaar was a huge success with a footfall of nearly 5000 people including staff, past and present students, mothers, aunts, grandmothers, lady relatives, guests, friends and well wishers.

The theme for the annual fest was "My Teacher….My Inspiration" and the dress code was Indian Haute Couture.

The various competitions organized were:  'Beautiful School Corners' (Collage making), 'Magnetic Eyes' (Beautiful Eyes), 'Natural Tresses' (Naturally Beautiful Hair), 'Tiny Toddlers' (Baby Show), 'My Favourite Teacher' (Fancy Dress), 'Great Teachers' (Fancy Dress), 'Magical Smile' (Beautiful Smile), 'Epitome of Elegance' (Mrs. Meena Bazaar) and 'My Role Model' (Ms. Meena Bazaar). The prizes for Miss and Mrs. Meena Bazaar were given by the Principal Mrs. A. Dass.

The staff and parents had put up craft and food stalls whereas the senior girls put up games stalls.

A lot of credit goes to the hardwork of the Gandhi Corner Core group members and staff volunteers.

the five Clubs of La Martiniere Girls' College, Lucknow.

The third day of the event Entente-2016 was organised by the Gandhi Corner, the social
work association of La Martiniere Girls' College.

The risk of increased cardiovascular diseases has become a very concerned topic in the
recent years. Thus, an awareness exhibition on the topic 'Listen To Your Heart' was set
up in the AV room with the help of Mrs. U. Pant, Mrs.F.Rashid and the student
representatives of Gandhi Corner. More than 300 posters were prepared with the immense
hard work of the senior school students and Gandhi Corner Prefects/representatives which
were all reviewed and edited by Mrs. P. Khanna, the teacher in-charge of Gandhi Corner.
Children from Classes 9 to 12 painted posters on the mentioned topic. The exhibition was
seen by all the participants of Entente and all students from Classes 9 to 12 of the
College between 11th-17th August, 2016. The efforts of the students bore fruits since the
exhibition was witnessed by zeal and enthusiasm by the participants and thus the motive
of spreading awareness among the youth was accomplished.
The third day of Entente, 13th August, 2016 was marked by the Gandhi Corner Inter School
Skit Competition on the topic “Listen To Your Heart”. The judges were Ms. Taru Saxena,
Mrs. Bina Krishna and Mrs. Tazeen Hussain. The skits were very informative and
enlightening. Mrs. U. Pant, Mrs. F. Rashid, Mrs. P. Bose, Mrs. S. Rodricks and Mrs. P.
Khanna need to be thanked for their immense help in the preparation of the event.
